My practice is rooted in the emotional and cultural layers that shape identity, memory, and belonging. In my recent work, I have been exploring the four elements as metaphors for transformation. Clay remains central to my process through its ability to hold gesture and memory, allowing me to create works that invite emotional connection, contemplation, and healing.
My journey through this elemental series began with Water, reflecting on migration, childhood trauma, and the profound loss of my Australian partner to suicide. These themes surface in sculptural forms that mirror the ocean's rhythms, rising, falling, and beginning again, incorporating Kintsugi to transform fractures into visible reminders of resilience.
For Latin Mythos, I present Fire: Ashes to Rebirth series. The work shifts into an exploration inspired by Gabriela Mistral’s poem "Fire." Working with terracotta, a material tied directly to the earth and the heat of the kiln, this body of work examines passion, warmth, destruction, and renewal. The series draws spiritual lineage from the Diaguita ceramic traditions of northern Chile, weaving ancestral connections together with reflections on two vast landscapes: the Atacama Desert of my homeland and the ancient, sun-baked expanse of Australia. Through this dialogue between desert horizons and cultural memory, the work marks a profound evolution of the elemental themes in my practice, proving that through fire and repair, we find a renewed, luminous strength.
